  • Year 1 Walk Around the Village

    Mon 22 Sep 2025

Our Year 1 children had a wonderful time during their recent walk around the village. The children were eager to explore and observe the different features of our local community, discussing who uses them and their purpose.

The children visited the village shop, The Chapel, the park and the Hub, among other places. Throughout the excursion, the children listened attentively and demonstrated excellent behaviour!

We are extremely proud of the children's engagement and enthusiasm during this educational outing. Their curiosity and willingness to learn was very impressive and we are confident that this experience has enriched their understanding of the world around them. 🌍🚢‍β™€οΈπŸšΆ‍♂️

    Wed 21 May 2025

We are delighted to share that our Year 6 children recently had the fantastic opportunity to go on a residential trip to Torquay following their hard work during SATs tests.

They enjoyed a variety of exciting activities such as raft building, zip wire, aeroball, abseiling, sensory trails, and much more. Our children have acquired new skills, showcasing excellent behaviour and making the school proud throughout the trip.

    Well done Year 6!

On Thursday 8th May we all celebrated the 80th Anniversary of VE Day.

We celebrated with a special assembly, observing the national two minutes silence, making of bunting and playing music from the time during an extra playtime at 15:00 to mark the time the end of war was formally announced by Winston Churchill.

  • LKS2 WSR Trip

    Wed 07 May 2025

A huge well done to Hazel, Poplar and Rowan classes for their exceptional behaviour on their trip to Watchet on Wednesday 7th May.

The children walked all the way to Bishops Lydeard, then enjoyed a lovely train ride to Watchet on the West Somerset Railway πŸš‚.

The trip was linked to their history unit on Isambard Kingdom Brunel, who was involved in the construction of the railway – it was great to see part of his legacy in real life!

At the harbour, the children did some brilliant observational drawings before heading to the park for lunch, a play, and a well-deserved ice lolly before starting the journey backβ˜€οΈ.

Once they arrived back at Bishops Lydeard, they had a chance to look around the museum and were given a sneak peek at the learning and nature garden they are developing!

All of the children were brilliant and represented our school beautifully – well done, everyone!

  • World Book Day 2025

    Fri 07 Mar 2025

Everyone at school enjoyed the World Book Day celebrations on Thursday 6th March. It was a joy to see all the children looking fantastic in their pyjamas as they embraced the spirit of the day.

The day was filled with engaging activities and reading sessions that captivated our young readers. To top it off, the PTA kindly provided cookies for the children to enjoy during story time, making the day even more special.

We would like to express our thanks to all the children who entered the 'Story in a Box' competition – every entry was truly fantastic and showcased the creativity and passion for storytelling that our children have.

  • InnovateHer

    Fri 14 Feb 2025

Over the last couple of weeks, children in Sycamore, Maple, Hazel, and Poplar took part in an online session with InnovateHer, focused on increasing diversity in the tech industry.
They discovered just how much technology shapes our daily lives and explored the vast range of careers linked to the tech sector—it's not just about game development! With over 3 million people working in tech in the UK, the industry is full of opportunities.
The session also highlighted the importance of diversity and inclusion in tech, helping the children understand why a variety of perspectives make the industry stronger and more innovative.
It was a fantastic experience that really opened their eyes to future possibilities! πŸš€πŸ’»
