Curriculum Intent
Cotford St Luke Primary School
Computing Statement of Intent
We want to empower our learners to be active participants in our digital society. We want our learners to become computational thinkers, developing the attitudes of perseverance, collaboration and imagination to understand and change the world.
We will equip them to be digital citizens, digital creators, digital communicators and digital investigators. We will develop their digital resilience to enable them to become confident, responsible and safe users of online and offline technology.
Through our curriculum offer, we will be preparing our learners for future learning and employment, and addressing social disadvantage through access to, and experience of, a wide range of technology. We will provide a flexible and cross-curricular approach to ensure computing skills and experiences are embedded within our curriculum, with key skills and knowledge taught explicitly within computing lessons.
Our planning will offer clear progression and well-designed units of work that support non-specialist teachers. There is a clear progression of knowledge, skills and understanding from EYFS to Year 6, with additional challenge for higher attainers. We aim for all children to achieve the end of Key Stage 1 and 2 National Curriculum expectations, and to be knowledgeable and confident users of computing in preparation for their secondary education.
