Governor Profiles

Mrs Ruth Evans - Co-opted Governor - Chair

I joined Cotford St Luke Primary School in September 2018 as a Co-opted Governor and in September 2019 became Chair of Governors.

I moved with my husband from London to Somerset in July 2018 after working for 30 years in HR in both the private and public sector.  I was a school Governor at a West London girls' secondary school from 2010-2018, the last 2 years serving as Chair of Governors.

I also served as a magistrate for 13 years, sitting in both adult and family courts and I also sat on the Ealing Children Safeguarding Board for 3 years as a lay member.  I have also been involved with a number of organisations in the charity sector.

I have a post graduate diploma in personnel management and a degree in social policy and criminology.

I want to continue to provide support and expertise to the education sector and look forward to an ongoing positive relationship with the school.

Mr Adrian Jones - Co-opted Governor

I have been Deputy Headteacher at Cotford St Luke Primary School for 14 years and for the last 7 years also have the role of Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator.  In addition, I am the Assessment Co-ordinator, Pupil Premium lead and NQT Induction Tutor and Keys Stage 2 Co-ordinator leading a team of 6 teachers.

My role is to assist the Headteacher to lead learning, support staff and children, improve standards and strive to make our school even better.

I have been at the school a long time and seen many changes, but love working here and helping to lead such a fantastic and hard working team as well as the wonderful children.

Mrs Elizabeth Latham - Co-opted Governor

I have been a Governor at the school for several years covering both Early Years and Safeguarding and for a period of time I was Chair of Governors.

I now take on the Early Years governor tole and sit on the Staffing & Finance Committee as well as acting as Vice-Chair.

I have worked with children and families for over 40 years both in the private and public sector.

When I relocated to Somerset I was part of a small team who developed and set up the 41 Childrens' Centres throughout the County.

I am a Trustee of Go Commando which is a charity supporting serving and veteran Royal Marines and their families.

I am also a member of the Early Help Network at Somerset Council.

My overriding passion is to ensure that all of our children have access to the very best start in life in order to give them the confidence and kindness to progress through life.

Mr Glyn Tennet - Parent Governor

I live in the village and have 2 children who attend the school.  I have spent many years working in the NHS/Emergency services.  I am very much enjoying the challenge of school governance and look forward to helping the school achieve it's full potential.

My aim is to build relationships and good communications within the school encompassing parents and the wider community.

Dr Irfan Ali - Parent Governor

I relocated to Cotford St Luke 2 years ago.  I am an Anaesthetic doctor working in the NHS and my children attend the school.

Our children's experience of education in their early years play a vital role in the development of their extraordinary capacities to excel and succeed.  This motivates me to volunteer my time as a Parent Governor.  I am an addition to the already diverse mix of individuals with varied skill sets to champion the school's vision and performance.

My area of responsibility is Special Education Needs (SEN) and work alongside the school SENCo Mr Jones.

As a Parent Governor, I endeavour to support the school leadership to promote the best interests of all children in the school and to achieve the educational needs, well-being and empowerment of our children.

Mrs Andrea Lloyd - Parent Governor

I have been living in Cotford St Luke for 12 years and my daughter is now in her third year at the school. I am an experienced primary school teacher with knowledge of working across Key Stage 1 and 2. With my expertise, I would like to further support the senior leadership team of the school to help all children to reach their full potential. I am committed to embracing my role and working as part of a strong team of governors.

Mrs Angela Kelly - Staff Governor

I have been involved in education for nearly 25 years and have been working at Cotford St Luke Primary school since 2006 working in Key Stage 1 having previously run 3 pre-schools in the Wellington area.

I love all aspect of my role as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, but I am especially interested in how the children progress at reading & phonics.

I enjoy Art & Crafts and this especially helps with the many displays and Christmas play scenery needed at school.  I am married with 2 children and enjoy baking and reading.
