Swifts - 2 Year Olds

Our new extension has now been finished and provides a fabulous dedicated area for 2 year old children.  Spaces are now available - any enquiries please ring 01823 432569. We accept two year old funding for up to 15 hours per week subject to eligibility.

The play space, both indoors and outside, is arranged in areas with appropriate resources stored nearby. We recognise that children who are two enjoy moving freely and quickly from one activity to the next, therefore we constantly monitor and change the activities and provision to meet the needs of the children. These areas are reviewed throughout the year but generally include features of basic provision such as:

Water 

Sand 

Construction—large and small 

Small world 

Physical—fine and gross 

Creative 

Malleable—sensory 

Books 

Music and Sound 

Mark-making 

Role Play 

ICT 

We aim to have a wide variety of activities available for your child when they spend time with us at Nursery. 

We organise our sessions so that the children can choose from, and work at, a range of activities and, in doing so, build up their ability to select and work through a task to its completion. The children are also helped and encouraged to take part in adult-led small and large group activities which introduce them to new learning and concepts.

Moving from Swifts to Swallows (3 Year Old Area)

After your child turns 3, they will be moved from Swifts to Swallows and therefore the fee/funding rate changes to the 3 year old rate. However, if we feel your child would be better accommodated developmental and socially in the Swifts area (2 year old area) they can remain there. Please note,  the funding/fee rate will still change to the 3 year old rate. This will be in full consultation with the parents to ensure we are meeting each child’s individual needs and a plan discussed regarding a suitable smooth transition into the Swallows.
