๐ต๐๐ฆ Year 5 Trip to Paignton Zoo ๐ฆ๐ ๐ต
Tue 24 Mar 2026Our Year 5 pupils recently enjoyed an exciting visit to Paignton Zoo to support their Science topic, Living Things and their Habitats. During the trip, the children took part in a mini-session led by the zoo’s education team, where they learned all about classification and discovered lots of fascinating new facts.
The children were very well behaved throughout the day and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the zoo, observing and learning about a wide range of animals.
One of the highlights of the visit was the opportunity for staff to get hands-on - Mr Stead, Miss Hill, Miss Smith, Mrs Trathen and Mrs Pike all had the chance to hold a python skin… we were amazed at just how big it was! ๐
A fantastic day of learning was had by all.

Fri 13 Mar 2026This week we have been celebrating Science Week across the school. The week began with an exciting and interactive assembly led by Mrs Lofthouse, which included air-powered rockets and the launch of a whole school challenge to see who could design a paper aeroplane that would achieve the longest flight. The competition has been very popular, with a fantastic variety of designs on display throughout the school.
Children have been exploring a range of themes during the week including scientific thinking, design and engineering, using data and maths, teamwork and improving designs. Staff have also joined in the fun, with some impressive aeroplane designs appearing - Mr Stead’s was particularly impressive!
Thank you to everyone who entered the poster competition and congratulations to our winners.
