Year review-2014-15

Cotford School Sports Year Review-2014/15

Well done and congratulations to all children who took part in representing their house or the School this academic year in sport! It was a great pleasure, in my second year at the school to see so many of you keen and eager to do your best in a wide range of sports. I hope next year will be even better! Here is an overview of participation and achievements this year.

Tag rugby-25 children played for the school over 5 tournaments and the team narrowly missed out on a place in the County finals.

Football-The team played 8 fixtures and narrowly missed out on progressing through this term!

Girls Football- Cotford’s first year of girls football was enjoyed by all with many tournaments being played and year 5’s playing! Looking good for next year!

Futsal-7 children played, the team came 2nd in the area group.

Cross Country-52 children competed for the school this year, more runners than any other school in the Taunton area, we were consistently the best state school competing.

Indoor Athletics-The team came 2nd in the indoor area championships narrowly missing the County Finals.

Quad-kids athletics-a year 3 & 4 team and 5 & 6 team competed at a high level at Castle in the outdoor events and the year 3 & 4 A team made it through to the County Finals and came second! See link on previous page for videos and pictures of the great day out!

High Five Netball-20 children trained weekly and 9 children in total competed for the school over 4 tournaments. The girls went from strength to strength and showed great team play and fairness throughout.

Rounders-36 children in total competed from year 5 & 6 for the school in rounders across 2 teams in 6 friendly tournaments and 1 main competition. The ‘A’ team came 3rd in the Taunton Area to qualify for the County Championships at Millfield. The team did their best and with more training next year could go one step further-Well done to all!

Cricket-The team played in 2 tournaments, an area qualifier event in which we made it through to the area finals. We then played well to get 5th in Taunton Area against some tough opposition.

Clubs attended by children-Tag rugby, football, gymnastics, dodgeball, athletics, rounders, fencing, cross country, short tennis, netball, Uni-hockey, and multi-skills.

Again, thank you and well done to you all, especially the parents for giving lifts, without you we would not have fixtures/matches.

Mr Auton (P.E Co-ordinator)
